Biography
Ts. Au Soon Yong is our Advisory Partner in Finance, Digital and AI practice with over 20 years of experience across assurance, corporate finance leadership, operations and technology-enabled business improvement. He commenced his professional career with KPMG in 2006 and spent close to 16 years with the firm, specialising in audit, financial reporting, internal controls, governance, data analytics and digital transformation. During this period, including a secondment to the United Kingdom, he worked with a wide range of clients and developed strong technical, commercial and stakeholder management experience.
Soon Yong subsequently held senior leadership roles in industry, including Finance Director and Group Chief Financial Officer of a public-listed group. He later joined a fast-growing consumer business, where he served as Group Chief Operating Officer and Executive Board Member, and spearheaded the establishment of the Corporate Strategy & Planning department. In these roles, he was involved in financial strategy, business planning, operational transformation, system implementation, process improvement, commercial execution and cross-functional leadership.
Soon Yong brings strong digital and technology capabilities across data analytics, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), software development, business process optimisation and technology-enabled transformation. He has led and supported consulting and implementation projects that help organisations improve operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls, automate manual processes and enhance decision-making through better use of data and digital tools.
He combines his finance background and technology interest through advisory, training and digital transformation work. He has designed and delivered training programmes for corporate professionals, including finance, tax and business teams, with emphasis on hands-on learning and real-world implementation. In addition to Malaysia and the United Kingdom, he has work exposure servicing clients in the United States, Singapore, Thailand, China, Vietnam, Guyana, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines.
Outside his professional work, he also serves as an Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) member for several universities, contributing to curriculum development in digital finance, business and technology.
