Biography
Alan Lau is the Managing Partner of the Firm with over 20 years of professional experience spanning audit, assurance, taxation, advisory and business transformation. He is responsible for leading the Firm's strategic direction while advising clients on complex financial reporting, taxation, governance and regulatory matters.
Alan commenced his professional career with KPMG in Petaling Jaya in 2007, where he specialised in the audit of financial institutions and public listed companies. During his tenure, he gained extensive experience in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, group audits and the implementation of FRS 139 relating to financial instruments.
He subsequently joined KPMG Sydney, where he managed audit engagements for financial services clients, including one of Australia's largest foreign banks and companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). Beyond statutory audits, Alan was involved in business process optimisation and operational improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening internal controls, enhancing reporting processes and improving organisational efficiency.
Upon returning to Malaysia, Alan joined the Firm as Principal of the Audit Department and Director of the Tax Department. He was later admitted as a Partner and subsequently appointed Managing Partner. Under his leadership, the Firm has expanded its capabilities across audit, tax, advisory and outsourced finance services while continuing to uphold the highest standards of technical excellence, integrity and client service.
Throughout his career, Alan has played an active role in assisting businesses with major regulatory developments, including the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standard (MPERS), the Companies Act 2016 and, more recently, e-Invoicing and transfer pricing compliance.
Recognising the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the accounting profession and business operations, Alan has developed a strong focus on AI-driven automation, digital transformation and business process optimisation. He advises organisations on leveraging emerging technologies to streamline workflows, improve decision-making through real-time data and build scalable finance functions that support long-term business growth.
Outside his professional commitments, Alan is actively involved in community service through the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, where he serves as an office bearer at both the National Headquarters and the Penang Chapter.
